Abstract

Maintenance of electrical distribution networks is a crucial activity to ensure system reliability and continuity of power supply to customers. Conventional maintenance methods generally require power outages, which can reduce service quality. To address this issue, PT PLN (Persero) implements the Medium Voltage Live Line Maintenance method (PDKB-TM), which allows maintenance work to be carried out without interrupting the electricity supply. This study aims to analyze the amount of electrical energy (kWh) successfully saved and to evaluate the improvement of distribution system reliability in terms of SAIDI and SAIFI indices due to the implementation of PDKB-TM on the Rambutan feeder during 2024. The research method used is a quantitative approach, including the calculation of saved energy using the Esafe formula in a three-phase system and reliability index analysis based on the number of affected customers and work duration. The results show that the total saved electrical energy reached 159,929.02 kWh. In addition, the implementation of PDKB-TM reduced SAIDI by 361.8 minutes per customer and SAIFI by 5.24 interruptions per customer. These findings indicate that the PDKB-TM method is effective in maintaining power supply continuity and improving the reliability of the distribution system.
